Mrs. Beeton's All About Cookery
Mrs. Beeton’s All About Cookery, was published in England in 1961. This cookbook is a hardcover with around 500 pages, and is a wealth of information as well as wide range of recipes. There are plenty of “how-to” photos as well as color food photos.
Considering this cookbook is from England, some of the terminology and recipe names may sound a bit odd or humorous to some of us. Jugged Rabbit… something from a Monty Python sketch, and apparently real, and it sounds quite tasty. Fish Forcemeat, Jam Omelette, Boiled Cow Heel, Fish Pudding, ah, the classic… Boiled Pig’s Head.
All-in-all, this cookbook is a classic with tons of information on cooking, canning, and of course is filled with some really good looking recipes.
