A Treasury of Great Recipes

treasury_of_great_recipesA Treasury of Great Recipes by Mary and Vincent Price.  Yes, THAT Vincent Price!  Recently I heard Vincent Price had a cookbook or two, and I had to get them.  This edition is from 1965 (as old as me) and I’ve seen other editions of this that have a way cooler cover.  I may have to get one of those, as money allows… they were going for a pretty penny.

The subtitle “Famous Specialties of the World’s Foremost Restaurants Adapted for the American Kitchen” pretty much sums up what this classic cookbook is about.  Although, with recipes coming from Scandinavia, England, Spain, Mexico, and the United States, I’m not so sure they cover the “world’s” foremost restaurants.   Nevertheless, this is a classic cookbook, filled with great recipes, and even greater photos!  I mean, wow, some of the photos are just amazing examples of that time period!  It also has nice illustrations and reproductions of menus from the various restaurants.

And since we all know Vincent Price, why not take a look at his wife Mary?
