Come to our Barbecue – Vintage Cookbook

Oct 11th, 2009 by admin | 6

come to our barbeque cookbookCome to our Barbecue was published in 1958 by the Taylor Wine Company, and mentions James Beard, and it is assumed that the recipes are actually from James Beard.  The 18 page booklet is filled with great illustrations of the time, and the cover photo gives us a feel of a 1950′s outdoor barbeque dinner party.

This cover scan shows one thing that drives me nuts about antique dealers… stickers! I know antique dealers are afraid of people ripping them off so they stick these impossible to remove stickers on their items…. but, they often destroy the product.  This cookbook would have been near mint, except the sticker destroyed that.  I applaud the dealers who use tags that are easy to remove, or write the price inside in pencil.  Take note dealers!
